HIAWATHA!

Every summer for the last thirty-two years my hometown of Marquette has held a traditional music festival. “Hiawatha” is held the next to last full weekend in July at the Marquette Tourist Park campground, and allows many different musical acts showcase their talent in a laid back “chill” environment. My wife and I always attend “Hiawatha” regardless of work schedules (we usually work during the day and head straight to the festival after work), because it is an event that we look forward to all year; but this year’s “Hiawatha” was different from years past as it was our first as a married couple.

We arrived at the campsite, guitar, and beer in hand ready to have great times with great friends. We all sat around the campfire, some of us making small talk, each drinking their favorite brew; others were jamming out to classic campfire songs such as: "I Wish You Were Here", "Wagon Wheel", "House of the Rising Sun" our friend Ian led the group in an amazing acoustic rendition of “Hey Ya” by Outkast, and Cecelia by Simon and Garfunkel (you could hear us singing Cecelia all the way down by the restrooms which were a good 20 campsites away!).

"Hiawatha" 2010 was yet another great experience and will return for years to come. If you want to learn more about the festival visit http://www.hiawathamusic.org/ !

Finger pluckin!

Music has always played a major role in my life, both my parents were music majors in college and are two of the best musicians i have, and will ever meet. Though it took me a while to tell the difference between a man with a guitar and a distortion pedal and a true artist, I finally made through musical puberty and became an adult.

The first CD i can remember owning was one by the country artist Reba Mcentire. As to what the title of the album i don't recall, but from there on out i submerged myself into the wide world of music. Since then I have gone through every musical phase imaginable. From Reba to Hanson; Eminem to Cradle of Filth; and even Broadway Musicals to Reggae! Since then i have reached a point where I feel like a bit of a music snob when it comes to the talent behind the music and that's not always a bad thing, and here is why. Even though i have high standards for music i give almost anything a chance before i nit pick it, and I never insult or judge someone by their taste in music. This being said welcome to my little corner on the web, where i will share everything music, such as albums, videos, and performances!
